Interested in Becoming a Teacher?

If you are interested in becoming a teacher then we can offer you the opportunity to experience teaching by joining on a Teaching Taster Course, or if you are still studying for a BA/BSc, postgraduate degree, HND or Foundation Degree by joining the Student Associate Scheme

Once you have made up your mind to train, the Employment Based Route of the Graduate Teacher Programme could be the ideal training route for you.  This one year full time training programme combines the benefits of centre based and school based training with being employed as a trainee teacher at a school.

Training to become a teacher may also require enhancing your subject knowledge in certain areas.

Qualified primary and secondary teachers who have had a career break and are now looking to return to the profession can refresh skills and update knowledge by attending a Return to Teaching Course.

These 10 week intensive courses will ensure a smooth and now successful return to the classroom.  And you are even paid a training bursary to attend these courses.

If you require further information please contact Peter Steadman (telephone: 01226 773624) or Anna Turner (telephone: 01226 773747).

SEPTEMBER 2010 START

We invite enquiries regarding training places for September 2010. Information will be sent to those who express an interest and we will be accepting applications from 1 September 2009.  We will be updating the information later in the summer with advice on how to make applications, procedures and deadlines.

Currently, we expect our closing date for applications to be at the end of November 2009, with interviews being held during the first 3 weeks of January 2010.

We anticipate that many of the initial applications will be made through our Consortium Partner Schools and we are currently in the process of finalising these procedures.

If you are seeking to train outside our consortium areas, or are seeking a Training Grant only place, we recommend you contact other Employment Based Route (EBR) providers offering places in your locality.  Details of other EBR Providers can be found on the TDA website at www.tda.gov.uk
